Mission Statement:

Our mission is to supply engineering teams with simulation software that enables them to develop processes that produce the highest quality castings in the shortest time, at the lowest possible cost.

History/Background:

RWP, the German parent company of SIMTEC was founded in 1984 and has since become a leader in finite element method simulation.

Dr. Ing. Konrad Weiss and a small group started in 1979 at the foundry institute of the Technical University of Aachen RWTH to develop a numerical simulation model using the finite element method (FEM).

For the past 20 years, the SIMTEC software has found applications in many industries in Europe and in other parts of the world, with a worldwide base of more than 350 installations, including most of the major European automobile manufacturers.

Research and development is located in Aachen and Kiel in Germany. The cooperation with several national and international Technical Universities supports the development and verification of the SIMTEC software.

SIMTEC USA opened its first office in 1996 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and has established herself as a primary provider of simulation software. We provide the full line of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), which includes fluid flow, the cooling down and solidification, residual stress as well as stress coming from an exterior load, and a visualization of the resulting distortion. Our results demonstrate the location of the last filling, last solidification and we can, therefore, predict any shrinkage and porosity in location and volume. We can estimate the grain microstructure, measure the distortion due to residual stress, and the resulting dimensions of your casting. The full line of FEA allows Simultaneous Engineering rather than troubleshooting.

We provide our software package, consulting services and also assist in the product and mold design and re-design. SIMTEC runs on any UNIX platform, including PC's and laptops. For the Windows (NT and 2000/XP) versions the product  WINCAST® is also available.
